Your Journey

The journey between Vilamoura and Seville covers approximately 215 km and takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes in either direction. From Faro, the distance is about 200 km (approximately 2 hours). The route follows the Algarve coastline east along the A22 before crossing the dramatic Guadiana International Bridge — a 666-metre cable-stayed bridge spanning the river that forms the border between Portugal and Spain. From there, the Spanish A-49 motorway leads directly into Seville.

The crossing is completely seamless in both directions. Both Portugal and Spain are in the Schengen Area, so there are no border checks, no customs stops — you simply drive across. Both countries use the Euro, so no currency exchange is needed. The only change to be aware of is the time zone: Spain is 1 hour ahead of Portugal, so your clocks advance going east and rewind returning west. We will always remind you of this.

A private transfer is by far the most practical option for this route in both ways. There is no direct train between the Algarve and Seville. The bus service (via Huelva) takes 2.5–4 hours with limited schedules and no door-to-door service. Rental cars incur expensive cross-border drop-off fees, often €100 or more.

Travelling to Seville? We pick up from any Algarve address — your villa, hotel, golf resort or marina — and drop you anywhere in Seville: your hotel in the old town, Seville Airport (SVQ), Santa Justa train station (connecting to Madrid via AVE in 2.5 hours), Plaza de España, or any address you specify.

Returning from Seville? We pick you up from your Seville hotel, Seville Airport, or Santa Justa station and transfer you directly back to your Algarve accommodation. No buses, no rental car drops, no stress.

Why Choose a Private Transfer?

  • Private Transfer: ~2h 15min, door-to-door both ways, seamless border crossing
  • Bus (ALSA/EVA via Huelva): 2.5–4 hours, limited schedules, no door-to-door
  • Train: No direct service between the Algarve and Seville
  • Rental car: Expensive cross-border drop-off fees (€100+)

Travel Tips for Seville

  • Time zone reminder: Spain is 1 hour ahead — Seville restaurants serve dinner 9–11 PM
  • Semana Santa & Feria de Abril: extraordinary but extremely busy — book well in advance
  • EU mobile roaming: works at domestic rates. UK visitors check your provider's roaming policy
  • The A-49 motorway and Guadiana Bridge are both toll-free on the Spanish side
