Your Journey

The journey between Vilamoura and Lisbon covers approximately 250 km via the A2 motorway, taking around 2 hours and 30 minutes in normal traffic — in either direction. From Faro, the distance is 277 km (approximately 2 hours 40 minutes). The route passes through the rolling cork oak forests and golden plains of the Alentejo — one of Portugal's most scenic landscapes — before entering or leaving Lisbon across the iconic Ponte 25 de Abril or the 17-kilometre Ponte Vasco da Gama.

A private transfer is the most comfortable way to make this journey either way. There is no train station in Vilamoura (the nearest is Loulé, 6 km away), the bus requires a connection via Faro and takes 3.5–4 hours, and driving yourself means navigating Lisbon's busy streets with expensive overnight parking (€10–20 per night). All motorway tolls (approximately €22–25 each way) are included in your transfer price.

Travelling to Lisbon? We pick up from any address in the Algarve — your villa, hotel, golf resort, or marina — and drop you anywhere in Lisbon: your hotel, Lisbon Airport (Humberto Delgado), the cruise terminal at Santa Apolónia, city centre, Belém, or any address you specify.

Returning from Lisbon? We pick you up from your Lisbon hotel, Airbnb, the cruise terminal, or Lisbon Airport, and deliver you directly to your Algarve accommodation. No taxis, no bus stations, no stress.

Why Choose a Private Transfer?

  • Private Transfer: ~2h 30min, door-to-door both ways, all luggage handled, fixed price
  • Bus (Rede Expressos via Faro): 3.5–4 hours, Faro bus station only, no door-to-door
  • Train: No direct service from Vilamoura. Nearest station Loulé (6 km away)
  • Flight: 45-min air time + 2 hours airport procedure = longer total journey
  • Rental car: Lisbon driving stress + €10–20/night parking

Travel Tips

  • Best departure time: leave by 8:00 AM to avoid Lisbon midday traffic
  • Avoid Sunday evenings in summer — Ponte 25 de Abril can have 45+ min delays 3–9 PM
  • Summer peak season: book at least 1 week in advance in July–August
  • Cruise connections: Santa Apolónia easily reached via the Vasco da Gama Bridge on the A2
